New User can't Connect to Guitar Teacher #3602

Is anyone else able to connect to his server? If not, then he's got a Firewall or NAT or Port Permission issue in his network configuration that is preventing others from accessing his server. This is a common problem when someone sets up a "private" server on a home computer, rather than on a public (cloud) computer. The Tips & Tricks on http://jamulus.io has information on private server configuration. |

Is your guitar teacher running the server from his home computer or a hosting service/cloud provider? Is he portforwarding the server port if running from home? (Required for direct connect by host/IP) If running from hoster/cloud did he open the port on the hoster/cloud/or server firewall? (Required for direct connect) How did you try to connect to his server? Please detail the exact steps. When you select a server in the Connect dialog, that uses the directory server for that genre to initiate the connection to the server. Not all servers permit connecting directly by host/IP and require the connection to be initiated by the directory server for the genre you're looking at in Connect dialog. This is a workaround for servers behind NAT (home or certain cloud providers) so they can still be connected to by selecting one in the Connect dialog. |

I think I discovered the problem. I installed the app from Apple App Store, rather from Jamila’s website. Will be trying again soon. Thanks Sent from my iPhoneOn Jan 15, 2026, at 12:14 AM, rdica ***@***.***> wrote:

Yes, other students have no problem.I think it’s my fault for installing the app from the Apple App Store rather than from the Jamulus website. Will try again soon.ThanksSent from my iPhoneOn Jan 15, 2026, at 12:12 AM, Chris Rimple ***@***.***> wrote:

I am new to Jamulus. I am trying to connect to my guitar teacher's server but I don't get past the "TRYING TO CONNECT" stage.
I randomly selected Test Jam from the list of servers and seemed to connect to that. The guitar teacher gave me his server number which I correctly entered but he had no indication from his end that I was connected..
What do we do????????
