Because object storage stores Blocks rather than complete files, files are split into multiple Blocks that are stored separately, and the mapping relationship between files and Blocks is missing. Therefore, even if the data in object storage still exists, without metadata, it's impossible to know which Blocks belong to which file or their order, so the file structure cannot be recovered. |

I understand that JuiceFS has feature that it can recover files via the
.trashdirectory. My understanding here, JuiceFS will retain deleted files in S3 until retention period ends. So, I wonder that if i can recover deleted files directly from S3 instead of.trashdirectory ?Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
