Non-zero exit code for errors on CLI

Would it be beneficial to return a non-zero exit code when there is an error on the non-interactive CLI mode? I attempted to use it for my application launcher, but needed to make a wrapper program because there's no easy way to tell if the output is an error. Additionally, it may be helpful to add a parameter that guarantees the CLI will print the output without any added formatting and the > prompt message (or only print prompts when providing more than one expression?).
