Vehicle data endpoint not providing vehicle location when parked

Hello, has anyone run into this issue? Here is the drive_state response I am getting back when calling the vehicle data endpoint. All other vehicle_data information is available however I am not able to get the long and latitude of the vehicle. However, I've found that it does work when the car is being driven but not when in park.

Any clarification would help. Thanks!

Short answer

You can get location while parked by explicitly requesting the location_data endpoint via the endpoints query parameter. Multiple endpoints must be semicolon-separated and URL-encoded.

Example (China region domain):

https://owner-api.vn.cloud.tesla.cn/api/1/vehicles/{vehicle_id}/vehicle_data?endpoints=location_data%3Bcharge_state%3Bdrive_state%3Bvehicle_state

• Include location_data to receive latitude/longitude even when the car is parked.
• Use ; as the separator and URL-encode it as %3B.

Note on API docs

The linked documentation is for the public Fleet API, which is not the same as the private Owner API discussed here. However, due to likely internal code reuse and similar endpoint selection semantics, the Fleet API docs are a practical reference for using the endpoints selector pattern with vehicle_data.
